David Byrd
Board Member
David L Byrd serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Coastal Carolina YMCA. His extensive career in the YMCA spans 47 years through a variety of leadership roles. He has been at
the forefront of numerous national initiatives and instrumental in Board and Staff Development, offering his vast experience to improve leadership across various Y Associations in the United States. He remains actively engaged with YUSA through leading the National Y CEO Coaching Program and the International OnPrinciple Program and advising many non-profit organizations.
David’s service is characterized by a heartfelt dedication to the Y’s Mission, manifesting in his efforts to positively impact individual lives and community well-being. His leadership has been guided by a steadfast adherence to Christian principles, which he has integrated into programs that promote a holistic approach to health encompassing spirit, mind, and body.
In 2020, David and his wife Elizabeth moved to Pawleys Island from Chicago. They enjoy a fulfilling life engaging in church activities, family time with their children and grandchildren, traveling, biking, fishing, and relaxing on the beach.
